Event description

Description

Books Rhymes and Life is a bi-monthly book club meet-up in Toronto for guys.

Each time we explore a new book, from fiction to narrative non-fiction and beyond, and how these books affect or shape our lives. There's usually food, always tea or coffee, and good conversation is guaranteed.

Books Rhymes and Life - Volume II (September 2017): We will be discussing Philip K. Dick's classic 'The Man in the High Castle'. While we chose the book before Charlottesville, VA became a flash point for the 'many sides' of the racial divide, the timing of this meet-up makes this book all the more relevant. In his 1962 sci-fi novel, Philip K. Dick asks "what if the Nazis and Japan had won WWII?" and challenges us to explore a dystopia where slavery, fear, and fascism are the prevailing currency in a crumbling North America.

You can borrow 'The Man in the High Castle' from the Toronto Public Library (although you might need to place a hold): http://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/

Or you can purchase it from wherever books are sold.
