Event description
An evening of story and song. Analog at Hutton Hotel May 26 with special guests Natalie Prass, Daniel Nunnelee & The Porch Prize winners

About this event

Books, Bars and Guitars is back on May 26th at Analog in the Hutton Hotel with another special evening of story and song. We’ll have music by Natalie Prass and Daniel Nunnelee and feature writing from the winners of this year’s Porch Prize: Jardana Peacock, Christian Collier and Sophia Huneycutt.

Readings by Jardana Peacock, Tyquan Morton, and Marie Anderson.

The Porch Prize honors fresh voices and excellent writing. In years past, our judges have included the notable writers Megan Stielstra, Tiana Clark, Silas House, Edgar Kunz, Kristen Arnett, Margaret Renkl, David James Poissant, Maggie Smith, and Aimee Nezukhumatathil. Winning entries received a cash prize and are also published in Nashville Review, the publication of Vanderbilt University’s Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing program.

Daniel Nunnelee is an alternative folk artist based out of Nashville, TN. Born in Memphis and raised in small towns around Mississippi and Tennessee, Daniel spent time in many different churches. It was a talented music minister in Senatobia, Mississippi that inspired Daniel to start playing and writing his own music. His songs are reflections of loud thoughts in quiet moments, a style mirrored in his performance.

Natalie Prass first emerged to international acclaim in 2015, when her debut record earned its rightfully rapturous reception. Rolling Stone swooned for the Virginia native’s “beguiling voice and refined taste,” while Pitchfork praised her album as a “smoldering perspective on passionate romance,” and The New Yorker simply called it “timeless.” She appeared on the Martin Scorsese-helmed HBO series Vinyl, performed on the BBC’s Later… With Jools Holland, and CBS This Morning, and racked up more than ten million streams on Spotify. Before long, she was headlining dates around the world and playing festival stages from Bonnaroo and Rock En Seine to End Of The Road and Forecastle.

Cameron Neal is a Nashville based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who has spent more than fifteen years touring, writing and recording around the world with several different projects. From his original band Horse Thief to backing artists such as Elle King and currently Shakey Graves, Neal is now getting back to focusing on where his songwriting all started.
