Share Bookmaking with Instinct

Event Details

Bookmaking with Instinct is an immersive workshop experience that will provide a foundational understanding for the bookmaking process and how to make the most out of what you have on hand. Participants will be surprised what they are able to produce in two hours. Led by Ink Press Productions founder, Amanda McCormick, the workshop will demonstrate how to transform unexpected materials into new books, prints, and stories, both conventional and experimental. Students will be supplied with various tools, supplies, and reference materials which will aid in the creation of handmade books--one of a kind and theirs to keep.

DATES

Oct 6: Hardcover Classic: Learn how to create your own own spin on a classic hardcover book!

Oct 13: O Accordion My Accordion: The accordion form is one of the most fundamental bookmaking forms with the most potential. During this session, students will explore the art of the accordion, producing over five books of their very own!

Oct 20: Pamphlet Party: The pamphlet is one of the most versatile and accessible book bindings. During this session, students will explore how the pamphlet transforms depending on the material used and will produce at least 3 unique books!

Oct 27: What’s in A Book? In this wildcard session, participants will explore the art of making books as conceptual objects using gestural processes and both traditional and unlikely material.

Nov 3: Closing Time FreeFall Showcase - A capstone event featuring work you created during the FreeFall season! Participants must sign up by Oct 15 to be featured in the show but all are welcome to attend. This will sure to be a fun evening and a great chance to connect with other creative people in the Baltimore community!
