Join us Thursday, June 6, Thursday, July 11, and Thursday, August 1, for a 90-minute book signing with Sylvia Acevedo, Girl Scout alum and CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA.


The event will consist of:

  • A conversation with Sylvia about her journey from Girl Scout Brownie in New Mexico to rocket scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Sylvia’s memoir is an inspirational Because of Girl Scouts story for young girls and their parents.
  • Q & A session
  • Book signing and photos with Sylvia
  • Light refreshments

There will be one session from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. each event date. Each session is limited to 50 participants.


Registration is required to participate, and there’s a $20 event fee for kids five years and older. Each child will receive an autographed copy of Path to the Stars: My Journey from Girl Scout to Rocket Scientist and Sylvia’s CEO patch. The book is available in English and Spanish.

Q: What is Girl Scout Central?
A: Girl Scout Central is Girl Scouts of the USA's flagship retail store and event space in midtown Manhattan. It offers a huge selection of modern and traditional products for Girl Scouts (and brand enthusiasts) of all ages—from Daisies to Gold Award Girl Scouts to volunteers to alums. Badges, patches, and uniforms? Check! Jewelry, toys, and camping gear? Yup! T-shirts, caps, and hard-to-find Girl Scout collectibles? We’ve got you covered!

Q: Do I need to register?

A: Yes. All children (ages five and older) and adults must register and prepay the event fee to participate. There is a limit of 50 participants per session, so act now to secure a spot. If you already own Sylvia's book, please select the CHILD - No Book ticket option and bring your copy to be signed.


Q: Is there an age range or other child-specific requirements for this event?

A: The activities are best suited to kids—girls and boys, Girl Scout members and non-members—ages five and older. Note that parent/adult supervision is required during the activity.


Q: Is this event accessible for those with disabilities?

A: Please email us with specific accommodations needed; we’ll do our best to meet them. Be sure to include your name and phone number in the email.


Q: How do I cancel my tickets?

A: If you can’t attend, please cancel your tickets through Eventbrite at least 48 hours before the event date. Note that the registration fee is nonrefundable.
