Description

You are invited to help us celebrate Jack's new book, St. Peter and the Goldfinch :

Jack's latest collection of poetry, Saint Peter and the Goldfinch, will be released by Wayne State University Press -- with its beautiful Meridith Ridl cover art -- on April 1.

(You can preorder your copy here.)

Because, of course! Jack has a long history with April 1. Maybe he'll tell you about it. Or ask one of his students. Also, it's the first day of National Poetry Month.

But we will hold off on the party all the way until April 5.

That evening, the Persisterhood Choir will sing us into the sanctuary, where the John Shea Trio will perform with Jack, in a conversation between poetry and jazz.

Then we float into the hall for more music by John Shea Trio, for food, drinks, books, book signing, probably dancing, and just fun.

As is tradition with all of Ridl's book parties, costumes are optional but encouraged. Come as a bird or saint you admire, as a poet, a character from any of Jack's books, or as you are. Because why not entertain Jack while he's entertaining us?

The man's been working on this book for a couple of years, and so have a lot of other people. Let's celebrate all of them together!

Poetry is part of the gift economy. Please share in that by bringing a bottle for the bar, and if you feel like it, a plate of finger food for the table. Bring what you can, not what you can't. Please bring yourself. That's the best gift for Jack!
