Book Presentation of "The German Girl" by Armando Lucas Correa + Book Signing
Join us for a very special book presentation of The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa. The German Girl is the first novel written by Cuban-American journalist Armando Lucas Correa, Editor-in-Chief of People en Español, the top-selling Hispanic magazine in the U.S. with more than 7 million readers every month. Based on a true story, this book fills the void of a little-known historical moment: the story of the St. Louis, a transatlantic ship that in 1939 brought more than 900 Jewish refugees from Germany to Cuba. It was a journey of hope that became tragedy when only 28 of the refugees were allowed to disembark.
After the presentation, there will be an intimate conversation moderated by Cuban poet Néstor Díaz de Villegas, followed by a book signing. The German Girl will be available for purchase from The Library Store, with proceeds benefitting the Los Angeles Public Library.
This presentation will be largely in Spanish, with some English portions.
