Book Launch: Inside Killjoys Kastle: Dykey Ghost, Feminist Monsters, and other Lesbian Hauntings

About this Event

Join us within the Haunted House to launch and celebrate "Inside Killjoy's Kastle"

Free to attend and refreshments will be available! Icebox Project Space is wheelchair accessible. Please RSVP!

"Inside Killjoy’s Kastle" (UBC Press and AGYU Press, 2019) explores the making and experience of the immersive walk-through lesbian feminist haunted house created by artists Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue, and currently on display at Icebox Project Space. Taking the Kastle as a starting point, contributors to this volume consider the role of lesbian feminist histories and direct-action aesthetics in contemporary queer and feminist communities as they produce new ways of knowing about the past.

Edited by Allyson Mitchell and Cait McKinney. Featuring contributions by Sara Ahmed, Madelyne Beckles, Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Emelie Chhangur, Ann Cvetkovich, Kalale Dalton-Lutale, David Evans Frantz, Catherine Grant, Nazmia Jamal, Chase Joynt, Moynan King, Chelsey Lichtman, Heather Love, Helena Reckitt, Andie Shabbar, Felice Shays, Karen Tongson, S. Trimble, Kyla Wazana Tompkins, Chris E. Vargas, and Tobias B.D. Wiggins.

In conjunction with the installation Killjoy’s Kastle: A Lesbian Feminist Haunted House by Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue (Icebox Project Space, Oct 16–27, 2019)

This event is made possible thanks to support from Tyler School of Art and the University of Pennsylvania.

Killjoy's Kastle and this book project are inclusive and trans-affirming. We embrace the identities and histories of all who enter our haunted home and pages.
