Event description

Description

For many years, local avocational historians worked to prepare a comprehensive history of the Sandy Spring area. Before their deaths in 2015, Leonard Becraft and Rip Rice researched and wrote what they called “chapters” on people, places, and events that figure prominently in the history of the neighborhood, in collaboration with Delmas Wood.

The first twelve chapters have been compiled into a series of easily readable booklets on specific topics, combining photographs and drawings with excerpts from historical records, publications, and interviews of knowledgeable residents or descendants. The booklets will be released in Volume One of “A History of the Sandy Spring Neighborhood” with three others prepared by other local residents to cover topics that Leonard and Rip were unable to complete. Join us for an evening of storytelling and the grand unveiling of these charming booklets on local history. Book sets will be available for purchase.
