Book-Ish Wine Tasting and Seminar: Where Gender and Wine Intersect
Event Information
Description
The Book-Ish Series:
Being in the nation’s capital, we can’t help but nerd out over politics, the sciences, and cultural phenomena. Book-ish is our series of fusion seminar/wine tasting classes that are centered around a niche subject and how it relates to the wine in your glass. Trust us – you’ve never been to a wine class like this before. Taste wine, enjoy nibbles, and learn something new!
Where Gender and Wine Intersect with Guest Instructor Rachel Signer
Globe-trotting natural wine journalist Rachel Signer is guest teaching at Dio! Rachel founded the world's first print magazine about natural wines and made her own wine in Australia this year. She joins us for a tasting and discussion about gender in the world of wine. We'll taste 4 wines from around the world that have special meaning to her, learn about how they were made, and use them as catalysts to talk about how gender makes a difference, both in writing about wine, and making it. This will be a relaxed and fun opportunity to taste wines with someone who accidentally fell into natural wine while waiting tables in Brooklyn, and now practically lives for it and with in, every day. After tasting, there will be a Q&A and copies of Rachel's new magazine, Pipette, will be on sale. Dio and Washington DC hold a special place in Rachel's heart as she grew up close by and often visited this neighborhood. See: rachelsigner.com to learn more about Rachel, or @rachsig and @pipettemagazine on Instagram.
