Book Illustration Exhibition by Igor Karash and Vladimir Zimakov

On April 5, 2013 Russian Cultural Center opened the exhibit of book illustration by graphic artists and illustrators Igor Karash and Vladimir Zimakov.
Igor Karash is a designer, illustrator and set designer originally from Baku, Azerbaijan. Igor now resides in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Most recently Igor was named the winner of the 2012 Book Illustration Competition organized by The House of Illustration and Folio Society in London. He produced seven illustrations and cover art for “The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories” by Angela Carter. These works are displayed at the exhibit.
Vladimir Zimakov is a Los Angeles-based artist, designer and illustrator. Vladimir apprenticed with a renowned Russian painter and sculptor Mihail Chemiakin. As a designer and illustrator Vladimir Zimakov has worked with world’s leading publishing houses such as Penguin, Random House, Faber and Faber, the Folio Society and Vita Nova.
In 2010 Vladimir completed 11 illustrations for the Folio Society’s edition of “The Golem”, Gothic tale by Gustav Meyrink . Some of these illustrations are presented at the exhibition. Also on display are original prints for another Meyrink’s classic “Walpurgisnacht”, illustrations for Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale “The Nightingale”, and other works.
Due to the public demand the exhibit is extended til the end of July.
