About this Event
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. EST. when very popular Chautauqua scholar Karen Vuranch leads a discussion of Fergus Mason’s Queen of the Desert: A Biography of the Female Lawrence of Arabia, Gertrude Bell. Gertrude Bell’s name is not well-known to Americans, but her life is certainly an interesting story. She was an archaeologist, a mountain climber, a member of the British army in World War I, a spy, and an expert on the Middle East.
