Book Discussion - Upon the Altar of a Nation: A Moral History of the Civil War
Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM (EST)
Please join Dr. A. Glenn Crothers for a book discussion of Upon the Altar of a Nation: A Moral History of the Civil War by Harry S. Stout. This book is a profound and timely examination of the moral underpinnings of the War Between the States. The Civil War was not only a war of armies but also a war of ideas, in which Union and Confederacy alike identified themselves as a moral nation with God on its side.
Dr. Crothers is the Director of Research at The Filson Historical Society and an associate professor of history at the University of Louisville. His research interests include southern United States History before 1865. Participants are encouraged to read this book before the program.
