Book Discussion: The American Centrist (with the Author)
Join us for a thoughtful and engaging discussion of The American Centrist: A Moderate Manifesto by Brent Jones—featuring a special appearance by the author himself.
In a time when American politics often feels deeply polarized, The American Centrist explores the idea that many citizens don’t fit neatly into partisan extremes. The book argues that a large “middle” of Americans is underrepresented and calls for a renewed emphasis on dialogue, compromise, and practical solutions over ideological division.
This conversation aligns closely with the mission of our group—to create space for respectful, courageous conversations across differences. Together, we’ll explore questions such as:
- What does it mean to be “centrist” today?
- Can compromise be a strength rather than a weakness?
- How might we rebuild trust and productive dialogue in our communities?
Whether you agree with the book’s perspective or not, this is an opportunity to engage directly with the author, ask questions, and exchange ideas in a spirit of curiosity and mutual respect.
What to Expect:
- Brief remarks from the author
- Facilitated group discussion
- Open Q&A
- A welcoming environment for diverse viewpoints
All are welcome—whether you’ve read the book cover-to-cover or are simply interested in the topic.
Come ready to listen, share, and practice the kind of conversation our civic life needs more of.
