Studying the Mind-Body connection is Debbi Murphy’s life work. Decades ago, she earned a masters in counseling psychology and a doctorate in exercise science from the University of Missouri where she was known as the community’s fitness expert. Seeking deeper meaning, she pursued the study of yoga. She worked with many nationally recognized teachers but found her main influence to come from Erich Schiffmann whose message of self-love resonated with her.

In 2001, she created Shanti Yoga Studio in McCall. Shanti hosts weekly classes, monthly workshops & advanced training. Five years later she created Shanti Yoga Teacher Training, a program that emerged from her strong background in science and yogic philosophy. Shanti’s YTT is based in Boise but has brances in several other locations in Idaho.

Through more than 30 years of practice, Debbi embodies the personal empowerment of yoga as well as the evolving dynamic art and science of yoga. Though she continues to teach public and private yoga sessions in Boise, she’s also sharing her passion for teaching and modeling the yogic life to other arenas including national workshops, international retreats and most currently Yoga2Life coaching. This program allows her to merge her passion for science (especially neuroscience and physiology) with yogic philosophy and coaching methodology to help others achieve a more fulfilled life. All her teaching is grounded in science, mind-body-spirit integration and the belief that we each can choose our path towards self-fulfillment.

What inspires you?

“Empowering people. Seeing people overcome obstacles and take risks."
