Boo at the Zoo

Join us for Washington DC's favorite not-so-spooky Halloween haunt, Boo at the Zoo.
All guests will have the opportunity to trick or treat at more than 40 treat stations throughout the decorated zoo, view animal demonstrations and listen to keeper chats. New this year will be an entertainment stage featuring a DJ spinning Halloween favorites, magicians and jugglers. This frightfully fun evening is a treat for the whole family.
Please note the following:
- This is a rain or shine event.
- All guests two and older are required to purchase a ticket.
- Tickets are only valid on the date you purchased. For example, we will not accept Friday tickets on Saturday night.
Can I see animals at the event?
Yes, some of our animals may be sleeping, but most of our animal exhibits will be open including: Bird House, Elephant Community Center, Small Mammal House, Great Apes, Reptile Discovery Center, Think Tank, Great Cats and Kids' Farm. Unfortunately, due to the time of day our pandas are already resting for the evening and the house will not be open.
What age range is approproiate for this event?
The best suggested age range for child attendees is 4-12.
Who needs to purchase a ticket?
All guests two years old and older, adults included, must purchase a ticket.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Driving? You must pre-purchase a parking ticket for the night you plan to attend. Only guests with a valid parking ticket for each night will be able to park on Zoo grounds. Drivers, please note that ONLY the Connecticut Avenue gates will be open for vehicles.
Walking? Two pedestrian entrances will be open. Guests can enter through the Connecticut Avenue gates at the top of the Zoo or at the Harvard Street Bridge at the bottom of the Zoo.
Taking Metro? You can catch a ride from the Woodley Park Metro Station (red line) on a double decker shuttle bus provided by Big Bus Tours. The shuttle will run continual loops throughout the night from the metro to the Bus Lot.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
The ticket you purchased is only valid on the night that you purchased it for. For example, we will not accept Friday tickets on Saturday night.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You must bring either your printed ticket or the electronic version of your ticket to the event.
