How to get the best hospital care for your loved one.
If someone you love has to go to the hospital, will you know how to help that person? Hospitals are complex, complicated places. Knowing how to navigate the pathways and advocate successfully can make all the difference, sometimes between life and death.
Bonnie Friedman will talk about her book Hospital Warrior: How to Get the Best Care for Your Loved One, which can make you an effective advocate. Friedman is passionate about hospital healthcare. Her expertise is hard-won, based on more than 24 years of advocating for her husband through 14 separate hospitalizations—some fairly routine, some quite dramatic and some truly life-and-death experiences.
Today her husband is thriving, and Bonnie Friedman is sharing her experience through blogging, speaking and writing to help others get the best care for their loved ones too.
Before writing Hospital Warrior, she started her own communications consulting firm, specializing in public, non-profit and small business clients. The consultancy grew from her many years working for the federal government in a variety of positions including Communications Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Marketing Director of the Small Business Administration. She began her career at the National Institutes of Health after graduating from American University in Washington, DC.
Bonnie Friedman is the recipient of professional honors and awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, the Performance Institute, the Public Relations Society of America, Ragan's PR Daily video awards, the National Association of Government Communicators and the Society for Technical Communications. She was a Fellow of the Council for Excellence in Government.
