Description

The Kentucky Equine Humane Center will host Bomb-Proofing the Mounted Patrol Way with Holly Williamson Kellicut, to be held in the covered arena at Hagyard Medical Institute in Lexington, KY.

Methods that teach you and your horse the bomb-proofing skills you need to hit the trail, parade or volunteer with the Mounted Patrol. With tried and true exercises, Holly will help you to build you and your horse’s confidence to overcome fear and nervousness. Clinic exercises include groundwork and under saddle obstacles that are challenging and exciting. Get your tickets today as they sell out quickly. As always this is a rain or shine event.

Following is the Bomb-Proofing Clinic Schedule and Checklist:

AGENDA:
9AM -10 AM -Check in, sign release and badge. Make sure you receive and keep the skill training list with you all day. Badge can be hooked to your saddle if you prefer. Badge must be displayed at all times when handling or riding your horse. You may exercise your horse as you see fit. Please do not use the obstacles at this time.

10:00 AM -Horses should be equipped with rope halter, clinicians training halter, l2’ + lead rope. Unsaddled, you will not be riding before lunch. Bring your training stick, and any other items you would like to work with in the obstacle area. Halter check, Introductions and Demonstrations. Halter work from station to station, ask for help as needed. Remember your horse should move left, right, forwards and backwards around most obstacles. If you have a special request for specific skill you would like to work on, let us know. This is your play day!


Noon – Break for lunch, (lunch is not provided) – Secure your horse.

1PM –Return to obstacle area for mounted work if you feel comfortable riding. Do not attempt any obstacle your horse failed during the morning session without assistance.

2PM- Sensitivity Training, hand held objects, herd behavior, crowd control, formation riding, parade obstacles, trail riding self-defense, and other distractions.

3PM – Introduction to hoof ball, the obstacle, the game. Participation optional. You can also use this time to go back to your primary goal for the day. If your horse has not mastered side passing, or trailer loading, or any other goals for the day, this is a good time to work on these skills.

4PM- End of Play Day. Question and answers; announcements for future events. Please like us on Facebook and tell your friends. Thank you for participating.

4:30 Break down of arena and obstacles.

Equipment Needed:
• 12 - 14 foot lead and rope halter
• 4 foot handy stick
• Leg wraps to protect your horses legs
• Helmet
• Riding Boots

Checklist/Guidelines/Rules:
• Note: Schedule is subject to change at any time for guest speakers and special event sensitivity training. If at any time you feel you are not being productive in building a positive relationship with your horse, please let someone know. This day is dedicated to you and your horse.

• Only one Horse per participant per clinic. In order for each horse and participant to get the most out of this clinic we only allow one horse per participant. We will be moving through the obstacles and exercises in the morning and afternoon very quickly and there is not enough time for each horse to attain the information he needs to be ready for under saddle obstacles and exercises.

• We are a rain or shine clinic. We do not cancel due to weather. Participants who do not show to the clinic will not receive a refund. In special circumstances do to reasons other than weather, certain participants may be allowed to attend a future clinic within the same year. Riders must contact Holly for exemptions and details. hollysnaturalhorsemanship@live.com.

• The same horse and rider combinations who start the clinic is the only horse and rider team to participate throughout the duration of the clinic. If someone is unable to complete the clinic, no one else can participate in the clinic with their horse.

• Clinic tickets are not refundable but are transferable if someone has purchased them and is unable to attend and wishes to sell the ticket(s) or gift them. Person must notify Holly Williamson Natural Horsemanship by email of the transferred ticket and include name of new participant at least a week prior to event.

Underage Participants:
Children under 18 may participate in BP clinic but must have a parent or guardian to sign a waiver for them and must be accompanied by an adult. No children under 10 may participate. Helmets are required for all Children under 18, and highly recommended for everyone.
Further Requirements:

Copy of Coggins papers are required and release of liability. It is the responsibility of the host to make sure all participants are aware of these rules and requirements. Holly’s Natural Horsemanship will not be responsible for anyone who was not made aware of requirements.

Cancellation Policy:

Holly Williamson’s Natural Horsemanship reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. Such decisions will have attempted to be made at least two weeks before the scheduled course date. If a course is cancelled by Holly Williamson’s Natural Horsemanship, you will be entitled to a full refund or the option to transfer to another date.


Boarding:
Stalls are available for $15 at this facility. For Camping and other questions please contact Kentucky Equine Humane Center.

Minimum Ticket Sales:
Holly Williamson's Natural Horsemanship reserves the right to cancel a course/clinic due to lack of ticket sales or minimum ticket sales not being met. Participants will receive a full refund and be notified by email of clinic cancellation.
