Urban Bush Women

BOLD (Builders, Organizers and Leaders through Dance)

UBW has been at the forefront of activating the intersections of professional/community art-making, civic engagement, leadership, and group dynamics for over two decades. In this intensive workshop, participants will be introduced to UBW’s core frameworks and practices for culturally-rooted community engagement and organizing. The weekend will also have a particular focus on the histories and issues most relevant to New Orleans.

From Congo Square to resistive legacies of Junebug and UBW - Creating from history, story and liberatory strategies:

  • Dance classes rooted in Congo Square, Second Line & African Diasporic Practices
  • Entering, Building & Exiting Community (EBX)
  • Story Circles
  • Generating Art Making from Research

The BOLD New Orleans weekend will take place at Bell School Artspace Friday May 31st - Sunday June 2nd. Tuition is $325.00.
