About this event

About this event

The latest installment of Bold Conversations invites you to open your mind and expand your awareness through a moving live musical performance of Freedom Song.

The cast is comprised of addicts in recovery who are actively facing their demons every day. Their captivating and inspiring performance interweaves a Passover Seder with personal stories of struggle and redemption.

Following the performance, you’re invited to participate in a Q&A with Beit T’Shuvah’s Rabbi Joseph Shamash, Freedom Song’s director Michael Kamenir, and some of the cast members in conversation with Sarah Abramson, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Strategy and Impact, CJP. Or, attendees can choose to participate in a post-performance, small-group discussion with members of the cast.

End the evening by having dessert with cast members.

If you prefer to join us virtually, please visit the virtual Eventbrite page to register.

This event is presented in partnership with the Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Project and the Ruderman Family Foundation.

The Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Project (RSIP) is a partnership between CJP and the Ruderman Family Foundation that supports synagogues in creating communities where people of all abilities are valued equally and participate fully.

Freedom Song is a transformative musical that shatters the myth of Jews being immune to addiction by interweaving the story of Passover and personal stories of addiction. The cast is made up of addicts in recovery from drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other destructive behaviors. Through songs, dance, tears, laughter, and post-show discussion with the cast, Freedom Song will open your eyes to the real-life struggle against the “bondage of self” that we all fight every day.
