Description

Day 4. Body and Soul

A day devoted to maintaining both a healthy body and frame of mind that together can lead to a lifestyle that brings the best life has to offer. The day is designed to address the issues that impact ones health and sense of well-being while at the same time being a fun and consumer-friendly event.

Morning Session:

The day is divided into two parts; in the first part is a series of discussions about various health issues that are vital to maintaining good health. The discussions are led by prominent popular local physicians and practitioners.


Welcome. A keynote speaker will be invited to open the conference and discuss the trends and issues in women’s health that reflect the current focus and concerns of the medical community.

Suppressing the Urge to Kill. A Conversation on managing stress with Buddhist meditation instructor, Shawnta Valdes. She will also show the audience several simple relaxation techniques.

Getting a Grip. An audience discussion with retired Eisenhower physician, Dr. Donna Fletman, on how you can “take small steps to make big strides” toward taking control of the basics, e.g. Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Heart health, Glucose, Girth, etc.


Controlling your Diet Without Losing your Mind. Author and lecturer, Dr. Stephanie Covington Armstrong, a specialist in food disorders, offers her opinions on the politics of food and how food affects the lives of women much differently than those of men and the relationship between women and food that can lead to poor diet, low self-esteem and eating disorders.


Keeping in Touch. A discussion of the connection between the body and the mind working together for quality health led by licensed psychotherapist, Robin Brooks.


The Other World. Spirituality as a cure for what ails you. Dale Olansky, RScP, a well-known Religious Science practitioner ends the morning session talking about how to use spiritual tools in developing a healthy body and attitude.

Afternoon Sessions: Lunch +

The second half of the day is hands-on with various practitioners providing sessions in traditional and non-traditional disciplines touted to improve your body and mind; yoga, meditation, exercise, reiki, massage, sound baths, psychotherapy etc. The afternoon is devoted to relaxation and networking.
