The Bodacious Family of Shops invites you to participate in the third annual Gingerbread House Competition and Display. We are excited to continue this annual event in Pensacola.
To be eligible for the competition, a signed entry form must be received by Monday, November 28, 2016. Entry numbers will be assigned upon receipt of completed entry forms. Please complete one (1) entry form per team. A fee will be required to enter. All entry fee proceeds go to benefit the Studer Community Institute – Early Learning.
DESIGN AND SIZE
The structure may not exceed 18 inches high, 18 inches wide, and 18 inches long. Entry must be placed on a board base. We suggest using ½” plywood as your base. If you would like to install “legs” on the bottom of your base, they will be considered part of your base and should not cause the entry’s height to exceed 18 inches. The use of pegs or risers as legs is preferred, but not required, to help in the transportation of the entry.
MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION
The main structure should be constructed of at least 50% gingerbread, some of which should be exposed. The use of gum paste, fondant, modeling chocolate, royal icing, Isomalt, cast sugar, gelatin and pressed sugar is highly encouraged. Do not use anything on the entry that needs refrigeration. The use of battery-powered electrics and non-edible materials is allowed.
