Event Details

Level II Training Series

Building Operator Certification (BOC) training includes nearly 61 hours of classroom and project work in building systems operation and maintenance. Each class in the series is completed in one day, except HVAC Troubleshooting & Maintenance, which is a two day class. To complete the series, participants must pass a test at the end of each training day and complete three assigned projects. Training begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends by 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Tuition must be paid prior to the first day of class.

Wednesday, September 18 Optimizing HVAC Controls for Energy Efficiency 
Wednesday, Oct. 2  Preventative Maintenance & Troubleshooting Principles
Wednesday, October 16 Advanced Electrical Systems Diagnostics
Wednesday, October 30 Introduction to Building Commissioning
Wednesday, November 13 Enhanced Automation and Demand Reduction


Level II Prerequisites

It is highly recommended attendees have a high school diploma or GED, work in a facility that is 50,000sq/ft or larger, and at least one of the following:

  • BOC Level I certificate of completion with 4+ years experience
  • A union member at journey level with 3+ years experience
  • Or a technical degree and 3+ years experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial or institutional building

 

Tuition, Discounts & Scholarships

Tuition: $1,695. The registration fee of $1,695 covers all class materials, books, continental breakfast, lunch, and a certificate upon completion of the training series.

Through partnerships with Consumers Energy, DTE Energy, and the Lansing Board of Water and Light, customers may be eligible for a tuition rebate upon successful completion of all course requirements. You must operate a facility 50,000 sq. ft. or larger to be eligible for the tuition rebate. 

Through partnership with the Michigan Energy Office, public and non-profit entity registrants may be eligible for a $400 incentive upon registration. Recipients of the incentive must:

1. Attend the second class, third day of training, Measuring and Benchmarking Energy Performance and complete the corresponding homework project on benchmarking your own facility

2. Share one ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager benchmarking account with the Michigan Energy Office (SOM_public ) and the Michigan Battle of the Buildings by the end of the third BOC training day

Cancellation Policy and Refund Information

 No refunds will be provided for registrations canceled less than three business days before the start of the first course in a training series. However, employers may substitute a different employee if the original registrant is unable to participate in the training series. 

If a training participant is unable to attend a course in a training series for which he or she is registered, he or she may make up that course at no additional cost or penalty by attending it when it is offered during a different training series.
