Event description

Bobtail Bong Bong: A Monkey's Tale: InterAct Story Theatre presents the world premiere of a new play made just for early childhood, and you’re invited!

WHAT: Bobtail Bong Bong: A Monkey's Tale is an interactive play where children explore how we can apply elements of Character Education and Social Emotional Learning in the way we treat others.

WHERE: Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, Theatre II. 7995 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910

WHEN: Weekends September 20-28, 2019:

• Friday, September 20: 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. (afternoon show SOLD OUT)

• Saturday, September 21: 1:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.

• Sunday, September 22: 1:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.

• Friday, September 27: 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.

• Saturday, September 28: 1:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.

About the play: Bob the Monkey is the smartest monkey in the land, and they want everyone to know it! Bob the Monkey wants what they want, and they should be able to get it! But why is everyone mad at Bob? Why is everyone so mean? Bob didn’t do anything! In this interactive theatre forum, children follow Bob’s misadventures and help Bob figure out where they went wrong, and where they could try out Caring, Fairness, and Respect to turn things around. Led by InterAct’s Artistic Director Ali Oliver-Krueger, audience members make suggestions about how Bob could do things differently, and watch Bob roleplay out their suggestions to see if Bob can make things better by making better choices. Does it work? What happens next? Best for ages 4 and up.

Activities Before the Show and After the Show: Come early with your kids for crafts and pre-show activities, and stick around afterwards for a Meet-and-Greet with the actors--it's a great time to get autographs, take pictures, and tell us your favorite part of the show! The Pre-show activities table opens 30 minutes before the performance.

On Friday, September 20 and Friday, September 27, InterAct Story Theatre hosts special field trip opportunities for elementary schools and homeschool audiences--with special discount rates! For more information for school groups and home school groups, please contact us at info@interactstory.com!
