About the Board Roundtable:

CNE's Board Roundtable is a place you can meet other board members in person to build your network, gain insights and look at challenges and situations together in new ways. The Board Roundtable is a facilitated group for board officers who seek to

  • Have a confidential opportunity to explore learning topics, with an emphasis on moving issues forward

  • Develop supportive relationships with peers

  • Increase effectiveness as board leaders, and

  • Increase ability to engage effectively with their Executive Director.

There are also lots of online resources to turn to with questions about strengthening your nonprofit board and leadership: BoardSource is a great one; CNE’s Board Transformation Toolkits offer material on 13 core topics boards must address; and Grantspace by Candid is also a wealth of knowledge.

About the facilitator:

Vanessa Lopez-Littleton, PhD, RN is Assistant Professor of Health, Human Services and Public Policy Department at California State University, Monterey Bay. She brings a strong commitment to community service, has served on boards and as an Executive Director, and has led board trainings on a variety of topics. As a capstone advisor for students, she has provided technical assistance to numerous local nonprofits. And also developed a student module for understanding the role and implications of social equity in the public sector.
