What Board Members Will Take Away

  • Your Board Toolkit for Success
  • The five elements of a High-Impact Board.
  • How to overcome board dysfunction.
  • How to deal with difficult board members.
  • How to create an exceptional staff/board relationship.
  • How to overcome organizational budget constraints and establish long-term financial health.
  • Effective strategic management and governance methodology.
  • Legal and fiduciary responsibilities of boards.
  • How to get the right people on the bus - and keep them aboard.
  • To use financial documents and statements as strategic management tools, not just understand how to read them.
  • To prepare for a potential crisis, such as the unexpected loss of a leader, unfavorable media exposure, devastating financial hits, legal problems, natural or human disasters, and more.

Tools You Can Use

  • Your Board Member Toolkit for Success
  • Identify what you don't know, you don't know
  • Strategic management forms and templates
  • Tools and policies ready to use
  • Sample forms and dashboard tools
  • Know how you're protected legally
  • Resources for further information, training and assistance
  • Avoid/overcome board dysfunction

Do you answer “yes” to any of these questions?

  • Is your board searching for ways to overcome budget constraints?
  • Do board meetings get bogged down in operational discussions — whether to order chicken or salmon for the luncheon — rather than focus exclusively on strategy and the “big picture”?
  • Do you have volunteer leaders – even board members – who aren’t clear on your organization’s goals, mission and vision?
  • Do you wonder where your new volunteer leaders will come from and whether you have the leadership “bench strength” or diversity you need?
  • Do you have a board member who has a personal agenda more important than the organization’s?  Is divisive, causing conflict among other board members?  Is apathetic or disengaged?  Or is absent altogether?

...then you and your Board NEED to attend this Boot Camp!

Boot Camp is an intensive leadership training for effective non-profit boards of directors.

Join us for board training to become a world class board.

8:00 breakfast/coffee
8:30 program start time
11:30-11:45 food break (not full lunch)
1:30 Finish

Through a highly interactive and entertaining series of real-world scenarios, you’ll apply concepts and capture proven methods for effectively leading your organization. Stop getting bogged down in the operational discussions and searching for ways to overcome budget constraints.

This program is offered both as a public seminar and as an on-site training program for a single board to be more successful. You will review the basic building components of a good board and learn how to build it into the higher functions of a world class board.

The day is structured around the Five Elements of a World Class Board.  A World Class Board:

  1. Establishes an aspirational culture
  2. Maintains a strategic focus
  3. Executes a clearly-defined, written governance process
  4. Is committed to continuous self-development and evaluation
  5. Is a strategic partner with a Level 5 staff leader

Why you need to attend and what your board will:

  • Develop roles and responsibilities for board and staff to keep them as key leaders
  • Understand how to apply key principals and procedures - develop a handbook for your organization
  • Conquer specific challenges by using a roadmap with key dates and goals to overcome all obstacles
