Description

Serving in a nonprofit board leadership role is sometimes challenging, but essential for high performing boards. Some folks reluctantly sign on while others have years of experience. Regardless of board tenure, there is always more to learn.

Emily Davis Consulting has designed a unique peer-learning group specifically designed for board chairs, vice chairs, and incoming chairs. Join this dynamic cohort to collaborate, learn, and share resources from and with other board chairs to successfully serve your organization’s mission. Build vision, strategically guide the organization, and create accountability. Access best practices in board governance and leadership while also hearing stories to help improve your board service.

We want you and your organization set up for success.

The cohort will meet for a one-day intensive and select topics for discussion such as:

  • Board member roles and responsibilities
  • Understanding shared leadership between board and staff
  • Creating board accountability
  • Managing conflict and handling hard conversations
  • Building healthy board culture
  • Ensuring resources for success - human and financial!
  • Facilitating great meetings
  • Board member recruitment and retention

The Board Chair Peer Group is ideal for current board chairs/presidents and incoming board chairs/presidents or current vice chairs/presidents. Coffee, tea, light snacks and lunch will be provided.

Participants will receive a complimentary copy of The Board Chair Handbook as well (a $45 value!).

The group is limited to 20 individuals and 10 participants are required to launch. Please sign up soon!

Participants of this fifth annual peer group will have access to BoardSource governance materials, the board chair peer group listserv and private Facebook Group for current and past board chair peer group members. The latter resources allow peer group members to share information and ask advice of current and past peer group participants.

Are there requirements to participate?

Participants must either be currently serving as the board chair/president or vice chair of a nonprofit organization or as the incoming chair/president of a nonprofit organization.

Is there a registration deadline?

Yes, registration closes April 19th, 2019 -- one week prior to the event.

Is my registration transferrable?

Your registration is transferrable to another nonprofit board chair, vice chair, or incoming board chair/president no later than one week in advance of the Board Chair Peer Group program.

How can I get on the waitlist?

In the event that the program is sold out, please email us at info@emilydavisconsulting.com and we will add you to the waitlist.

Do I have to pay for registration through EventBrite?

No, but you must register through EventBrite. Please contact us for additional details.

Do I need to bring a copy of my ticket/registration?

Nope! We will have that information prior to April 26.

What is parking like?

There is free parking on site. We will send out driving and parking instructions to all participants.

What if I have special food needs?

No problem! Just let us know your dietary needs and we'll do everything we can do to accommodate your needs.
