Event description

Description

Support your favorite charity, with a big smile on your face.

Once again, BMW of North America will be offering Charity Rides at NOLA Motorsports Park during Oktoberfest! You have the opportunity to blast around the racetrack with a BMW high-level executive. Who could pass that up?

Your donation to the BMW Car Club of America Foundation gets you 1 and 7/8 laps at speed. If you've ever wondered what it's like to ride in the Z4 GTLM, E46 M3 GT2, or the E92 M3 GT, here's your chance to find out.

But you need to act quickly and sign up now...our Charity Rides are a popular event each year at Oktoberfest, and often sell out.

Your donation to the BMW CCA Foundation will provide funding for Street Survival - a nationwide program that teaches real-world car control to teen drivers. Nearly 3,000 young drivers will receive a full-day of in-car training this year alone. Your help is needed to make that happen, so thank you!

All riders MUST be 18 years or older, no exceptions.

Everyone must visit the BMW CCA Foundation table which will be located near the BMW NA / Rahal Team transporter in the paddock area at NOLA Motorsports Park. The table will be open from 9am to 1:30pm. Everyone will need to sign a waiver for BMW NA and receive your ticket/wristband. Instructions will be given during your visit about where the rides will take place. Everyone needs to check-in prior to 11:00am on Friday, November 3. PLEASE NOTE: If you don't show up, your spot will be sold to the next waiting person in line. Sorry, no refunds for not showing up.

BMW will bring the E46 M3 GT2, E92 M3 GT and two E89 Z4 GTLM for the rides. There may be an additional car or two, but that is tbd. As this is confirmed, we will open registration for the additional cars. Driving will be done by Bill Auberlen, Tom Plucinsky, Dept. Manager BMW Group Product Communications, Alex Schmuck, Product Communications Manager, and Mike Renner, BMW Perormance Center Driving Instructor.

FAQs

Do I need to be registered for Oktoberfest?

No, you don't have to be registered for Oktoberfest. However, you will have to sign the appropriate waivers to enter the track. You will be required to show the track or Oktoberfest credentials and/or wristband.

Are there clothing requirements for the rides?

All riders must wear a helmet, either open face or full, Snell M or SA 2010 or higher. We will have a few loaner helmets available, but if you have your own or can borrow one, please bring it. With multiple cars running, there could be a shortage of loaner helmets.

Long pants are required. Short sleeve shirts are fine.

Shoes: must be closed toed and over the heel - no sandles, flip flops, or other open shoes.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

All participants must be 18 years or older, no exceptions. ID will be required.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Before Oktoberfest, contact Michael Mitchell, at michael.mitchell@bmwccafoundation.org, or 864.329.1919. During Oktoberfest, visit the Foundation booth in the vendor area at the Hyatt Hotel or call 864.616.9694.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

If you are transferring your ride to someone else, contact Michael Mitchell (contact info above) with the new rider's name and contact information. Again, any rider must be 18 years or older. Tranferring will have to happing before signing the BMW NA waivers.

Is there a specific time for my ride?

Unfortunately, we can't give a specific time. It is a first come, first serve situation. If you are the third person to sign up for a car, you will go as soon as the second person gets out of the car. If you are not around, your seat will be sold to another rider. You are reserving a ride today by signing up. However, the true order will happen the day of the event when you check in at the Foundation table near the BMW NA/Rahal transporter at NOLA to sign your waiver.

May I sign up for multiple rides on multiple days or during the same day?

Yes, you can sign up for as many rides as you want. If they are on the same day, we'll do our best to space them out so you can go from one car to the next.

Is there a waiting list?

We won't have a waiting list. If sold out online, please visit us at the Foundation table at the track the day of the event. If we can squeeze in more rides, we will do so.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes.

Are there any refunds?

You may cancel up to Friday, November 3, 2017 at 5pm and receive a refund. Please email Michael (information above) or visit us at the BMW CCA Foundation booth at the hotel. A full refund will be processed. Sorry, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations after 5:00pm on Friday, November 3.
