Event description

Description

For a few Fridays this month, Brooklyn Music School faculty from the venerable neighborhood institution -- who are musicians and bandleaders in their own right -- have entertained with jazz standards and new material during the "happy hour," at a fabulous outdoor Fort Greene location, 7-Corners. And if you have musical chops, you're invited to jam along with them!

Closing out the series is award-winning jazz trumpeter, Duane Eubanks. Despite being raised in a musical family, this Philadelphia native didn't consider music as a career until college, when he joined his university's jazz band. From there, he went on to study in master classes with Dr. Billy Taylor, Wynton Marsalis and Johnny Coles. In his career, he's crossed over to play and record with such artists as Alicia Keys, Wu-Tang Clan, Kirk Franklin and Mos Def. When he's not performing or touring, Duane focuses on jazz education: he is a valued and popular member of the BMS faculty! (photo: William Brown, 2015)

We are thrilled to present this music series in partnership with Brooklyn Music School, a Fort Greene community institution since 1912.

The 2017 season of FAB FULTON events is made possible by generous support from Council Member Laurie A. Cumbo, Ridgewood Savings Bank, NYC Small Business Services (SBS) and Media Partner, BKLYNER. Additional support for BMS Jazz Series provided by TD Bank. Special thanks to the Volunteers of New York Cares and dozens of FABulous local Community Partners.
