Event description

Description

Join us as lead artist Dionne Victoria takes us through self love using painting as a tool. This is a guided class where she will offer tips and provide basic instruction. Attendees will be prompted to visit actions that promote self love. No two paintings will be the same as self love looks different for every individual. Join us as Dionne takes us on a yourney to find and/or shine the love within ourselves. This event it 21 and oldwe and is BYOB/W.

Things to note:

  • Doors open at 2pm.
  • Class begins at 2:30pm.
  • We will wrap up with a brief discussion about how we will replicate self love in our lives.

The sip and paint class will take place at the South Side Community Art Center. There we will start by visiting the Black Love Matters!™ Exhibition and will move on to make our own art. Black Love Matters!™ is an exhibition that captures the love in our communities by promoting the image of the black body. By representing people of color, we write our own history and depict what love in and for the black community looks like. Artists who participate are not necessarily of African descent but their art shows an appreciation of blackness. What does love mean to you and what does it mean for the community? Black Love Matters!™ takes this opportunity to chronologize aspects of blackness that are normally stigma and showing them as characteristics to appreciate about us. From our dark skin, to our big butts, to our loud colors and our nappy hair, we love ourselves. Black Love Matters!™ is an expression of that love.
