Our Beat the Blues Winter Concert features Jake Kulak Band, winner of the 2019 Foxwoods Resort Casino "Battle of the Bands" and features Blues legend Bob Margolin with special guest Jeff Pitchell.

Doors Open at 8 p.m. | Concert starts at 8:30 p.m. and play until 10:30 p.m.

ABOUT BOB MARGOLIN

Blues icon and renowned guitarist Bob Margolin tours worldwide at festivals, concerts, clubs and workshops. From 1973-‘80 Bob played guitar in Muddy Waters’ band, appearing on all the albums Muddy made during that time. He also played guitar with Muddy at special shows like "The Last Waltz” with Martin Scorsese filming the concert for the classic film. Since 1980, Bob performs his own songs, but still honors his historic and personal connection to Muddy Waters.

"After nearly 50 years of playing the Blues, Margolin should be bestowed with the 'icon' title. He's not just a link to many blues artists now gone from this world…but continues to breathe new life into the genre. “ (Bill Mitchell/BluesBytes)Bob has won two Blues Blast Magazine Awards, one as Best Male Blues Artist, and one for Best Traditional Blues Album for his album, “My Road.” Bob was nominated for The Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Award for Traditional Male Blues Artist. He has won Blues Music Awards for guitar in 2008 and 2005. Bob has played on several Grammy-winning recordings, won numerous W.C. Handy/Blues Music Awards for his playing and is a KBA Award recipient for Journalism

ABOUT THE BAND: Jake Kulak Band

The Jake Kulak Band brings their blend of modern and traditional guitar-driven blues and blues-rock to music lovers everywhere. The band represented CT for 4 years at the International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis, TN. In 2018 they won the CT Blues Society Band Competition and performed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2019. They have also been nominated for a New England Music Award in the "Best New Act of the Year” category and were one of 6 Boston-area bands to win the the House of Blues emerging artist competition. In 2019 the band won the $10,000 Grand Prize at the Foxwoods Resort Casino Battle of the Bands. Jake has spent many summers attending the Pinetop Perkins Masterclass in Guitar held in Clarksdale, MS where he has had the privilege of studying under Bob Margolin. Jake is currently a student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Jake has spent many summers attending the Pinetop Perkins Masterclass in Guitar held in Clarksdale, MS where he has had the privilege of studying under Bob Margolin. Keeping the beat on drums for the band is Manchester, CT native Jeremy Peck. Jeremy is a talented multi-instrumentalist who also writes and records his own original music. Holding down the groove on bass is AJ Lippo.

ABOUT JEFF PITCHELL

An internationally acclaimed dynamic singer, songwriter and guitarist, Jeff achieved national recognition when his album Heavy Hitter (Pyramid Records/EMI) reached #7 on the Billboard Charts, outselling Delbert McClinton, Robert Cray, Etta James, Johnny Lee Hooker & Muddy Waters. Jeff has recorded with such greats as J Geils, Rick Derringer, Dave Mason, James Cotton and Clarence Clemons. He received international recognition when he toured Europe, even playing with the Commitments as a special guest.

He won the "Best Guitarist" in the State of Connecticut at age 15. He has won numerous awards since, including two songwriting awards from the Great American Songwriting Contest. The International Songwriting Contest (ISC) judge and renowned blues legend John Mayall subsequently recorded Pitchell's song "An Eye for an Eye" on one of his albums. Pitchell and his band, Texas Flood, won the BEST BLUES ACT in New England in a six-state vote.

The core of Texas Flood consists of Steve Peck on drums, Dave Natale on bass and Dan Fontanella on keys and B3 Organ. These seasoned musicians unite to bring a high energy mix of Rhythm and Blues, Rock Soul, Pop and funky Texas Blues.

The Jeffettes vocal duo consists of Linda Ransom and Theresa Wright. They have performed for over 25 years with various gospel and jazz groups throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. Their soulful harmonies are truly amazing and their lead vocals simply breathtaking!

Together, this accomplished group of musicians has entertained countless people with their hard driving brand of thunder and lightning blues, rock, funk and soul music.

Averaging over 200 shows a year for over a decade, Jeff has performed in the Caribbean and was a guest on tour with The Commitments in the United States/Canadian. He has penned songs with academy award winner Jeff Silbar (Wind Beneath my Wings) for his most recent release, American Girl which features rock and roll hall of fame nominee J Geils, was produced by David Z (Prince/Etta James) and released on Vizztone Records.
