Description

Harvest Pierce County and Metro Parks Tacoma, and Charlotte's Blueberry Park Action Group are hosting our third Annual Blueberries & Blues celebration! There will be games and a lawn concert with live music - and Celebrity Cake Studio's Cake Mobile Food Truck will be back with delicious blueberry themed treats for sale!

Extra points if you wear blue to show your love for Charlotte's Blueberry Park, and all things blue!

This year, we are super excited to have an amazing lineup of local musical talent.
First on the list is the always wonderful Kim Archer of Kim Archer Music!
Known for her raw, powerhouse performances and personable interaction with her audiences, Kim Archer has attracted a large and loyal following of fans in the Pacific Northwest and across the country. For over a decade this lifelong musician has entertained standing-room-only crowds with her vocally-driven soulful rock and honest songwriting. Whether she’s playing a premier venue with her award-winning band, or an intimate club for a solo show, Archer never disappoints. And lucky for us, she's going to be at Blueberries & Blues this year! So bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and get ready to get down with this amazing local talent!

*More artists will be announced as they are confirmed, so stay tuned!

Come tour the brand new Charlotte's Blueberry Park Community Garden, and find out how you can sign up for your very own plot!

About Charlotte's Blueberry Park (from the Metro Parks Tacoma website):
A commercial blueberry and hazelnut farm in 1929, volunteers now help maintain several thousand blueberry bushes that can be picked July through September each year.
This neighborhood park covers 20 acres and is owned by Metro Parks Tacoma. More than 10 of the park's acres are wetlands and cannot be disturbed.

About the Charlotte's Blueberry Park Action Group:
This group is for those who are interested in volunteering to make Charlotte's Blueberry Park and the forested land around it a safe, well-loved, and well-used place for the community to gather. Together, we discuss ideas, solutions, and ways we can come together to help our neighborhood thrive.
We meet the first Tuesday of the month at Grace Missionary Baptist Church - all are invited!

BLUEBERRY PICKING
Since the Blueberry Park Project started in 1999, more than 3,372 bushes have been trimmed to ground level and are now producing fruit. Five varieties of blueberries grow in the park. Picking season runs from July through September each year (dependent on weather). Metro Parks does not use any pesticides or fertilizers on the blueberry plants, they are grown naturally. There is no fee to pick the blueberries which are first-come-first-serve during picking season.
