Event description

Description

An unprecedented oil and gas drilling boom in the Permian Basin is great for business. But it’s polluting the air, overwhelming communities and threatening the planet. Join The Texas Tribune, Newsy, the Center for Public Integrity and AP for a screening of the documentary "Blowout" followed by a Q+A with The Texas Tribune’s energy and environment reporter, Kiah Collier, and Newsy’s executive producer for documentaries, Zach Toombs.

The documentary features journalists, scientists, and citizens tracing the fallout of a new American fossil fuel boom. From the oil fields of West Texas to tanker traffic busting the Panama Canal at its seams to an energy revolution in Asia, the film takes a deep dive into American energy's global impacts on profits, public health and climate change.
