Upon college graduation, students are eager to join the creative workforce but often encounter entry level positions that pose the minimum “2-3 years experience”requirement - also known as “the experience gap.” Recent initiatives and programs at UAB aim at closing this gap by providing students with opportunities to expand their portfolios with experiences that merge learning with real client work. Hear from the professors and students who lead Bloom Studio, a program that employs design thinking and service learning, and UAB Digital Media, an on campus creative agency powered by students. They will share their models for teaching and look to hear from industry professionals to further advance their student programs to meet industry expectations.
