Blogging is a great way to tell the world more about yourself and your business, as well as helping potential customers find you in search engines. If you want to start blogging but don't know where to begin, or if you have an existing blog but want to learn how to use it more effectively, wehearttech C.I.C.'s Blogging 101 training day can help... And we promise not to bombard you with technical jargon!
Perfect for SMEs, charities, not-for-profits and sole traders, the workshop will provide an introduction to blogging in terms of writing techniques and the use of Wordpress. Over the course of a full-day workshop, you will explore planning, researching and producing content for your blog, including tone of voice, structure, hook, audience and basic SEO writing skills. You will also learn how to use Wordpress to create embedded media posts to ensure your blogs are interactive and engaging.
Although we use Wordpress as the basis of our workshop, the skills you will build can be transferred to any blogging platform. So if your business already has a blog set up with different software, you will still find Blogging 101 useful.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify writing and presentation techniques used in blog posts.
- Write a blog post and collate/create content for it.
- Use Wordpress to publish an embedded media blog post.
- Develop transferable digital literacy skills.
The workshop will be facilitated by Hayley and Sarah from wehearttech C.I.C. who, between them, have more than 15 years of experience in teaching, tech, PR and digital marketing.
The workshop will be held at Wigan STEAM, which can be found at 4A Library Street in Wigan, opposite the Town Hall. We're a 5-minute walk from Wigan North Western station and several bus routes stop nearby. If you are driving, paid parking can be found locally (in fact, some cheap all day car parks are located in 5 minutes walking distance!). Please note, we cannot reimburse participants for their travel and parking costs.
Lunch will be provided for workshop participants, and there will be refreshments available during the course of the day. Please do let us know if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements either when you book your ticket or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP after you have registered.
What You Should Bring
You really just need to bring yourself, a pen and a notepad with you, as we will provide tablets and/or laptops to work on during the workshop. If you want to bring your own laptop or tablet however, then you are welcome to and we will hook you up to the WiFi at the venue. Also, if you have an existing blog or a blog post you are working on, bring that along to the workshop too!
If you have any specific questions about blogging that you wish to ask during the day, feel free and we'll do our best to answer them... although it is possible we may not be able to answer specific technical questions relating to all blogging platforms.
Please note: The workshop requires a minimum of 10 participants to run.
