The Chicago CPCU Society Chapter is pleased to be hosting a Blockchain panel at the University Club of Chicago with leaders in the space of Blockchain, Blockchain’s integration to Insurance, Cryptocurrencies, and Fintech. This panel discussion will begin with a brief overview of what blockchain is, and how it started. From there the panelists will provide insight to how disruptive this technology will be, exciting ways it is beginning to be used today, and a picture for what the Insurance industry will look like once its use is widespread. This is an opportunity to hear firsthand how this powerful emerging technology will drastically change the world.

Here are our panelists’ bios.

MODERATOR

Brian Jenkins - Director of Business Development at BusinessBlock & Former CNN Anchor and Correspondent

For 22 years, Brian was a news reporter on television and radio, the last 16 as a correspondent and anchor for CNN, based in Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York. He covered wars, natural disasters, crime, politics and economics around the world.

He then ran his own company for 12 years, traveling around the United States to create informational videos for corporations, foundations and government agencies.

In 2009, Brian became a fully credentialed personal financial advisor. He now connects international investors to opportunities in a variety of industries. He speaks frequently to civic groups about international conflicts and has been interviewed on business programs about trade and finance.

Pooja Barodekar - SVP, Global Head of Multinational Operations at American International Group (AIG)

Pooja Barodekar is Senior Vice President, Global Head of Multinational Operations. In this position, she is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Multinational Operations and worldwide Service Delivery teams.

Her operational responsibilities include working closely with global and local leadership teams, underwriting and multinational servicing delivery specialists, broker partners, and functional experts globally. Pooja’s passions for operational excellence are matched only by her dedication to drive execution of simplified end to end multinational processes, deploying innovative customer centric technology solutions, motivating teams to exceed client centric performance metrics. Our goal is to help our multinational clients achieve their risks, compliance, and contract certainty objectives.

Pooja has over 20 years of strategy and operations experience, in her nine year tenure at AIG she has led various strategic transformation initiatives, managed regional and country operations functions. Prior to AIG, Pooja worked at Deutsche Telekom (DT) and consulted at IBM and AT&T.

Pooja holds her Masters of Business Administration in International Business from Southern New Hampshire University, Masters in International Economics from Mumbai University and earned her Bachelors in Accounting/Economics from Mumbai University.

Michael Cavanaugh – Managing Partner at Fintech Ranger LLC

Michael Cavanaugh moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of Wisconsin. He worked on the floor of the CBOT and proceeded to the learn the business from the bottom up, in the fast paced world of the open outcry trading pits. Like many, Mike became passionate about the markets. Upon his exit from the floor, Michael embarked upon the business from the buy side and founded an asset management company which is known today as RCM Wealth Advisors. In Q4 of 2016, Michael made the decision to join a start-up and to leverage his years of B2B sales experience and business acumen to assist in the growth of a FinTech Software company. Michael now consults with FinTech companies thru his consulting firm, FinTech Ranger. Through mentor-ship and leveraging his sales and business development experience, Michael adds value to the companies growth path. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He is an avid fan of any Sports team that resides in the Cheddar Curtain and Mike still plays in pick up games whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Scott Diamond – Managing Partner at Chicago Crypto Asset Network

Scott is an avid Investor, Adopter, Speaker, and Executive Educator in emerging Blockchain technologies and early ICO projects.

The historic adoption of crypto-currencies like Bitcoin, Monero and Litecoin and Crypto-Assets like Ethereum, IOTA, SIA and Storj has begun to take hold on the periphery of legacy business. They will soon prove to support new business processes that will transform or potentially replace parts of industry. It is Scott's opinion that these changes will greatly transform all businesses responsible for transaction and storage of Data and Value.

Scott is also looking to help early stage technology companies understand the rigors and challenges of building a business that can grow internal talent to support explosive growth opportunities.
