Event description

Description

The SDG Blockchain Forum welcomes you to the "Blockchain for Smart Cities" panel discussion and reception at Galvanize in West SoHo on Wednesday, 30 October, at 6:30pm. This is part of the renowned event series, "Blockchain for the UN Global Goals," featuring world leaders in government, business, philanthropy, engineering, and blockchain advocacy. Welcoming over 100 Delegates each month, the SDG Blockchain Forum looks to the future and asks how emerging technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, and IoT are transforming our planet to tackle the United Nations' most ambitious challenges.

The United Nations’17 Sustainable Development Goals are part of the global campaign to create a better future. Goal #11 focuses specifically on "Sustainable Cities and Communities"

Originally designed for applications in digital currency, blockchain’s distributed ledger technology fosters transparency and accountability in the data that global businesses, governments, and humanitarian efforts rely on to create a better society.

The Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) explains:
"A smart city uses information technology to integrate and manage physical, social, and business infrastructures in order to provide better services to its dwellers while ensuring efficient and optimal utilization of available resources. With the proliferation of technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and interconnected networks, smart cities can deliver innovative solutions and more direct interaction and collaboration between citizens and the local government."

The SDG Blockchain Forum will draw from the experience of public officials, engineers, and business leaders to showcase the opportunities for blockchain to transform urban life as we know it, and construct cities of the future. Reserve your seats for 30 October today!
