Blockchain: A Digital Technology for the Clean Energy Economy?
Event Information
Description
The Clean Energy Leadership Institute invites you to join us for a lively discussion on Blockchain technology and the implications for clean energy.
As our energy system moves from central generation facilities like coal and natural gas to distributed sources like wind and solar, we need a better system to track, sell, invest in and purchase energy. Enter Blockchain.
When applied to the energy sector, this digital ledger will enable people to trade energy among themselves in a peer to peer platform. Blockchain can also lead to better investment and funding for clean energy companies and projects; by tokenizing renewable energy, we can allow wind, solar and hydro producers to seamlessly connect with investors. As a distributed system, the middleman is removed.
But how much and how quickly can Blockchain change the energy landscape? Our expert panelists will take you through the history of Blockchain, applications in other sectors, how it can be used to better fund clean energy startups, and the challenges to implementing this emerging technology.
Please join us for a networking reception at 6:30pm with complimentary wine, beer, and snacks before the presentations begin at 7pm.
