A big shout out to Acumen for hosting this workshop!

In our Agile Blitzplanning workshop, you will learn

  • how to quickly move from "not yet started" on your project, or "stuck" in your project, to having team. members feel like they have a stake in the development, want it to succeed, and are flying high.
  • that "Release Planning" is strategically sequencing work to maximize learning and minimize risk, and how to do this while having fun as a team. (That Release Planning is not stuffing max # story points into two week buckets.)
  • visioning, and pitching your vision.
  • rapid prototyping techniques.
  • how to get a project off the ground and running in an iterative, Agile fashion, and how to keep them there once you've started.
  • how to plan and execute an Agile release.

We'll help you get started in your own Agile projects!

Working with your own project data we will collaboratively progress from Ideation, Visioning, Release Planning, and Sprint Planning, with the goal to have a draft Release plan, at least two Sprint iterations worth of work to start and several prototypes validated before leaving the workshop.

Note: If you're not attending the workshop with team members, we will form teams based on our shared interests. For example, shared interests could include

  • embarking on an agile transition
  • eradicating a huge impediment that is a project unto itself
  • getting started on that app you've been wanting to bulid

What your day will look like:

  • After coffee and a light continental breakfast, we'll sync on the backlog of what we want to get through in the day in order to have a shared understanding of what we want to accomplish.
  • We'll then take a moment to discuss our potential projects, so that we can form teams based on shared interests.
  • You will get a "Blitzplanning" guide and a rapid prototype introduction.
  • After any Q&A's we'll say 'go!' and you'll be off and running!
  • Twice during the day we'll have a tradeshow, where you'll be getting feedback and adjusting.
  • At the end of the day we'll do a final demo of where we are, including what we've learned, including next steps we're planning on taking, and where we might need help.

In running this workshop in-house in the past, we've seen full web pages being developed (store fronts), rapid prototypes tested, apps created, and pivots from our rapid learning.

Individuals/teams who should attend:

  • have a working experience with Scrum and/or other Agile methods
  • are passionate about solving real customer problems
  • want to learn about iterative Agile Release planning, and how to get your teams flying

Patience and perseverance will be constantly emphasized. Folks are learning this together, and through collaboration, and constructive application and support – they will make it work!

About your Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™):

Catherine Louis is a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™) with over 20 years of hands-on complex product development experience (including both software and hardware) which allows her to go well beyond delivering a course of just Scrum in theory. The additional 3rd day workshop enables teams through Release Planning.  You can read more about her here:

Prior experience with Scrum is required. CSM or CSPO is highly recommended (as we won't be covering any of this material in this hands-on session.)

Please come to the workshop opinionated about what you'd like to work on, a big impediment to solve, a real project you are working on solving a customer problem you'd like to eradicate, or an app you've been dying to build for example. This will help us form teams at the start of the day. Please review the latest Scrum Guide here. If you think you might need help getting the prerequisties or not sure, please call!

After the workshop:

This couse qualifies for 8 SEUs from the Scrum Alliance as well as 8 PDU's from PMI. We'll also follow up with you on any help that you need, we want you to succeed!
