Picnic-style craft blind beer tasting in the park—four styles from local breweries. All proceeds go to charity. DAY OF EVENT: Pay at gate.
About this event
Join us for a picnic-style craft beer tasting in the park. You will vote on your favorites for each style without knowing who brewed them—until the end. This blind taste test format removes any preconceptions or biases on who makes the best IPA or other styles. The beer will speak for itself, brewers will earn prestige and we will all be enlightened.
Photo credit: Kevin Hart donated the rights to use his bird photos to create the artwork for this event—many shot at the Carpentersville dam.
You will vote for your favorite of four beers for each of the four styles we will be taste testing. You will not see who brewed each one, so it will be a blind tasting.
Breweries
- 93 Octane
- Black and Gray
- Crystal Lake Brewing
- Emmett's
- Lucky Monk
- Riverlands
- Sew Hop'd
- Short Fuse

Bring a lawn chair and blankets—this will be Ravinia-style. Flights will be brought to you while you chill and vote on beers. Food will be provided for purchase from Rosie O'Hare's. The Porch Flies will be performing live.
After determining the favorite beers via blind taste testing, we will award the winning breweries for their excellence.
Beer tasting tickets include a tasting glass.
Designated driver tickets
For guests not drinking, we will just ask for a $5 donation at the gate. Food, music and raffles are still available for DD guests. Only ticket holders will receive a tasting glass, but if extras are available, we will make them available for sale or as a raffle to raise more funds for charity.
