Friends of Old Skool Cafe
Old Skool Café (OSC) is a faith- based, violence prevention program, providing jobs and training to youth, (with an emphasis on at-risk, urban youth) ages 16-22, at a 1940’s styled supper club. OSC confronts the epidemic of violence by providing at-risk and previously incarcerated and foster care youth with a variety of career opportunities that would normally not be afforded them.
Their vision is a youth-led supper club that will employ youth in every area of the business, as paid youth apprentices. The apprenticeships assist them in transforming their learned skills into formidable jobs in the market place.
Their goal is to re-connect the village by working in collaboration with other community organizations, businesses and churches in order to provide youth with a web of support. This holistic approach addresses the variety of needs facing our youth and their families, helping to close the gaps that many young people slip through. Some of these services include the provision of intensive mentoring, life skills and professional development.
OSC OFFERS MORE THAN JUST EMPLOYMENT; THEY PROVIDE THE SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT NEEDED TO HELP OUR YOUTH MAINTAIN THEIR EMPLOYMENT AND BE SUCCESSFUL IN ALL AREAS OF LIFE.
Join us on Saturday, February 1st to celebrate and be inspired!
