Trauma First Reponse for Emergency Preparedness Planners
This Trauma First Response course is a one-day, continuing education course that teaches the principles of Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) to non-EMS practitioners/civilians, including first responders, police officers, firefighters, rescue personnel and safety officers. It helps them prepare to care for multi-system trauma patients while serving as part of a transport team or attempting to mitigate loss in a grid-down environment.
This course is intended for anyone who has had previous training in First Aid and CPR who have not had EMT or advanced prehospital training. The lectures and practical stations are designed for the type of care that first responers and civilians can render while awaiting patient transport or surviving a disaster when a blackout occurs.
Course Length: 6 hours
Valid For: Four (4) years
PREREQUISITES: Previous certification in First Aid and CPR preferred but not required.
