ADDITIONAL EVENTS & INFORMATION

Black Writers Weekend is a weekend full of unique opportunities to connect with creatives, authors, and the entertainment industry experts. With so many opportunities to network and learn, why limit yourself to one day? Here are a few events we encourage you to take part in:

  • DopeReads. Are you an author? Do you have your manuscript ready to go? Are you looking for a publisher? Or, are you just looking for expert advice? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to participate in Dope Reads. Dope Reads is a unique opportunity to learn and pitch. On Saturday, June 8th at 1:00 pm, the event begins with a panel discussion moderated by award-nominated author, Phoenix Williams. Following the discussion, the authors will complete a round of “speed dating” style pitching. To register for this event, click here .
  • PitchFest. Are you an aspiring screenwriter? Have an idea for the next big blockbuster? Not sure where to start in your film career? Do you have a script all dressed up with nowhere to go? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to participate in Pitch Fest. Pitch Fest gives creatives the unique opportunity to pitch their screenplays to film industry experts and receive advice and feedback on the project. To register for this event, click here .
  • Creative Con. Powered by literary enthusiasts, Creative Con bridges the gap between literary creatives and opportunities that will advance their careers. The best part, Creative Con, is free to the public. Click here to register. As an attendee, you also have the exclusive opportunity to receive a free on-site fifteen-minute brand audit and strategy meeting with Delphine Legacy Media. Spots are limited. Please click here to schedule your brand audit and strategy meeting.
  • Urban Legends Gathering. One of the things that make Black Writers Weekend unique is the opportunity for new and aspiring creative to have the chance to interact. In the past, attendees and vendors were able to speak with legends such as Nikki Giovanni, Terri Woods, Mary B. Morrison, and so many others. This year will be even better as we are having our first annual, Urban Legends Gathering. Have a seat at the table as we honor those that have paved the way for us in the entertainment industry. Click here for more information.
  • Urban Book Bash. We all know that after the show is the after party. And, what an after party it will be! We're taking it way back with our 90s themed Urban Book Bash! From 10:00 pm to sunrise, we will be celebrating at a private location. Click here for more information.

In two weeks, you will have the opportunity to learn, network, inspire, and be inspired. We look forward to seeing you there.
