I am Dr. Amina AmXn and creator of BLACK WomXn on Sexuality: Conversations with the Living and the Dead. This is a READING of my one-WomXn play in the tradition of stage reading/workshopping. The emphasis is on the art of STORYTELLING from the position of BLACK WomXn, specifically me and my Southern family. The emphasis is on the LIFE CYCLE: Arkansas-Child. What are these narratives of sexuality, exploration, liberation, identity, trauma, rejection, oppression, self-esteem, dating, and love? I take you THERE to the Bible Belt. I share laughs, memories, perspectives, and critiques going back to the 70s until today . . . from the farm. In this WomXist tale, you laugh, think, and reflect about Black WomXn on Sexuality. But most importantly, you connect to the human experience on stage through the power of story! I hope to see you there! There is a talkback after the reading. Tell a friend; bring a friend; bring many friends.
For this particular reading, I am so excited to have B.A.R.S as the spoken-word opening act! The actual reading of the play is 90 minutes with a 30-minute talkback. There is a ten-minute intermission.
