Black Women Navigating the Workplace: Moving from Surviving to Thriving
This professional development session will focus on strategies that improve the support and advancement of the needs of black women in the workplace. As stated in the Forbes.com article How To Be An Ally For Black Women In The Workplace “Despite an increased focus on diversity, equity and inclusion within companies, the daily experience of Black women in the workplace hasn’t improved in the last few years.” Black women often face unique challenges related to the intersectionality of gender and race which often creates a negative employee experience.
This session is designed for black women and open for organizational champions, allies and leaders that want to influence and drive an impactful work experience.
Education Learning Outcomes:
• Learn strategies to better protect your well-being (emotional and physical)
• Gain practical techniques to successfully navigate your workspaces and build resiliency
• Understand how to gain and leverage allies, sponsors and mentors in the
workplace
• Learn how to develop strategies that support and advance the needs of black
women through an equity-centered lens
