Description

Thanks for joining us!

Black Diaspora Investments at Home and Abroad

Whether home is the United States, Kenya, New Zealand or Brazil, we are bringing together a panel of every-day citizens, professionals in institutional philanthropy, sports figures, and journalists, all Giving Voice to Fuel Change, using their own assets, or in partnership, within the U.S., or in their country of origin. Our panel includes:

Solomé Lemma
Deputy Director, Thousand Currents & Founder, Africans in the Diaspora

Elfreda Mayson
Founder & Lead Designer, Jola House Liberia

Dr. Mojúbàolú Olufúnké Okome
Professor of Political Science, African & Women's Studies
Brooklyn College, City University of New York

Dana M. Reed
Interim CEO, The Africa Center

&
Moderated by
Cynthia Eyakuze
Director, Women's Rights Program
Open Society Foundations

We will elevate voices in Black philanthropy in all of its historical iterations (e.g. time, talent and treasure), and explore and reflect on how our history of philanthropy - which more often benefits the broader society - may look different if and when carried out by institutional or mainstream philanthropy.

And remember, we are hosting a Pop-Up salon featuring Jola House Liberia

A social enterprise transforming the lives of Liberian women and girls
through training and entrepreneurship.
Bring your wallet!

Please note, the event may be Live-streamed.
