Black History Month Parent Summit
Featuring Dr. Joseph White, Godfather of Black Psychology
The Black Parent Summit will feature Dr. Joseph L. White, Ph.D., pioneer in the field of Black psychology, perennial voice for youth empowerment, and strong advocate for leadership development among Black and Latino youth. His keynote address is entitled - Discovering, Rediscovering and Utilizing the Strengths of the Past to Take Control of Our Destiny as African American Youth in the 21st Century.
Co-sponsored by St. Paul Public Schools, this event will accentuate strengths in African American culture and offer practical strategies parents can apply as they seek to develop their children’s leadership skills and support their academic success. Emphasis will be placed on how culture and history can be used as resourFeces in parenting, personal development, and community building.
Renewing Hope in the Promise of Minnesota’s Youth will include events that are designed to reposition Black culture as a strength toward building and supporting the academic success and leadership capacity of youth. The 2-day itinerary features special events for our invited partners, including a Philanthropy Breakfast and a Parent Forum. Renewing Hope in the Promise of Minnesota’s Youth was launched in 2012 through a partnership between Youthprise and the Cultural Wellness Center.
