Event description

Description

The Social Sciences Division and Student Equity Program are proud to announce that Glendale Community College will serve as a live-streaming site for an 8-part public course from Dr. J Luke Wood, Distinguished Professor of Education at San Diego State University.

This free course draws parallels between issues faced by Black males in society and the ways that Black minds are engaged in the classroom. Through this lens, we will engage research on Black students in education (from preschool to doctoral education), emphasizing strategies and practices that can support their success. Tangible solutions for promoting the learning, development, and success of Black males are offered.

This series will empower faculty to better educate all students, while discussing why the practices offered provide intensified support for men of color in particular.

Anyone involved in education is encouraged to attend.
