Event description

Description

How do we preserve, celebrate, reclaim, and reimagine Black creativity within and beyond the archive? "Black Memory and Imagination" is an open conversation with local artists who practice in a spectrum of media to consider this and more. Artists will reflect on the legacies that feed them as cultural producers, and the legacies they hope to leave.

Featured artists include: Beverly Cottman, Keno Evol, Nimo Farah, Mankwe Ndosi, and Tish Jones.

The conversation will be facilitated by Erin Sharkey and Junauda Petrus of Free Black Dirt. A reception will follow.

"Black Memory and Imagination" is organized and sponsored by Free Black Dirt, Intermedia Arts, Umbra Search African American History, and the Givens Collection of African American Literature at the University of Minnesota Libraries.
