Event description
Event to discuss black maternal mortality rates and health disparities Featuring the men who have loss their Queens during childbirth

About this Event

Chi Eta Phi is a National Black Nursing Sorority whose motto is: “Service for Humanity”. On Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 3pm, our local chapter, Theta Chi, will host a Virtual Town Hall entitled, “BLACK MATERNAL HEALTH CRISIS”.

In the U.S., black women are 3-4 times more likely to experience a pregnancy related death than white women due to medical neglect, implicit bias, and racism. We are focusing this town hall on the effect it has had on our black men and their families. We will feature the stories of men whose Queens have died either during childbirth or the postpartum period due to complications. These deaths were preventable and have left these black men grieving while raising their children as a single parent.

We are inviting you to attend the Town Hall and listen to their stories to become aware of this crisis that has gone on for far too long in our country. The lives of our Black Mothers matter and we hope that you will make this issue a priority moving forward. We need to eliminate health disparities NOW!

Please join us and register for this FREE Townhall event!
