Event description

Description

The Alliance for Black Male Acheivement (BMA) of Charlottesville is hosting its annual Saturday Enrichment Training through the Young Lions Pride initiative. Young Lions is a mentoring program for African-American boys, grades 6 to 12, to promote the acheivement in the following areas:

  • academic success
  • social-emotional competencies
  • avoiding risky behaviors

The program provides an umbrella approach that hopes to address the cultural, emotional, and social needs and wants of all participants. Young Lions Pride matched participants with mentors through a traditional community-based match. In addition, program participants are encouraged to attend the monthy academic tutoring sessions at the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education. We look forward to this year's group of participants and the positive outcomes that will result!

Young Lions Pride SET is a collaboration of efforts and resources by: The Alliance for Black Male Achievement of Charlottesville, the 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, and the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia
